What Trinity English Level Is Required for Spouse Visa UK

A lot of couples get confused here.

They think, “I speak English every day.

That should be enough.” But the Home Office wants proof.

For a first spouse visa application, most people need to pass Trinity A1 level in speaking and listening. That’s the basic level. It shows you can have simple conversations.

When you apply to extend your spouse visa after 2.5 years, you usually need A2 level.

If you later apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (settlement), the level goes up to B1. That one is more detailed. You’ll need to talk more confidently about everyday topics.

The key point? The level changes depending on the stage of your visa.

We’ve seen people in Bolton and Manchester book the wrong test because they didn’t realise this. Then they had to book again. More money. More stress.
If you’re applying from Burnley or anywhere in Lancashire, it’s always safer to check first. At Parkview Solicitors, we confirm the exact level before you book anything.
Better to be sure than to guess.
