Spouse Visa Financial Requirement Rules Explained
This is the part that causes the most stress.
For most spouse visa applications, the British or settled partner must meet the minimum income requirement.
The amount can change depending on government rules, so it’s important to check the latest threshold before applying.
Income can come from:
- Employment
- Self-employment
- Savings
- Pension income
- Some other permitted sources
If using employment income, usually six months of payslips and bank statements are required. The documents must match exactly. If the payslip shows one figure and the bank shows another, the Home Office will question it.
Savings can also be used, but there are strict formulas about how much is needed and how long it has been held.
We see many refusals across Manchester, Bolton and Lancashire because financial documents were not prepared properly. The same happens in Liverpool, Merseyside and Yorkshire.
At Parkview Solicitors, we check the financial category carefully before submission. No guessing. No assumptions.
Because once refused, fixing it is harder.
We’re based in Bolton (Greater Manchester), but help clients in the North West and throughout the UK.
