Fiancé Visa Accommodation Requirements Explained

People often focus on the relationship and finances, and forget about accommodation.

For a fiancé(e) visa, you must show you will have a suitable place to live in the UK. The Home Office wants to know:

  • Where you will live
  • That the property is not overcrowded
  • That it is legally occupied

This could be:

  • A rented home
  • A mortgaged property
  • Living with family

If you are living with family, you normally need:

  • A letter from the family member confirming you can stay
  • Proof they own or rent the property
  • Evidence of the number of rooms and people living there

The Home Office isn’t asking for luxury. They just want it to be safe and suitable.

We’ve seen applications delayed in Manchester and Bolton because the accommodation evidence was unclear. The same happens in Burnley and across Lancashire. And yes, we also see it in Liverpool, Cheshire and Yorkshire.

At Parkview Solicitors, we help clients prepare accommodation evidence in a clear way so it doesn’t become an unnecessary problem.
