Switching From Fiancé Visa to Spouse Visa Explained
The fiancé(e) visa is only temporary. It gives you 6 months to come to the UK and get married.
After the wedding, you must apply to switch to a spouse visa.
You cannot stay in the UK long term on a fiancé(e) visa. And you cannot work during those 6 months either.
Once married, the next step is applying for a spouse visa from inside the UK. The requirements are similar to the original fiancé(e) visa, but this time you must show:
- You are legally married
- You meet the financial requirement
- You meet the English language requirement
- You are living together
You will also need updated documents. The Home Office will not just rely on the old fiancé(e) application.
Timing matters. You must apply before the fiancé(e) visa expires.
We support couples across England including Bolton, Manchester, Burnley, Liverpool, Cheshire and Yorkshire to move smoothly from fiancé(e) visa to spouse visa without gaps or last-minute panic.
Because once you’re married, the last thing you want is immigration stress.
We’re based in Bolton (Greater Manchester), but help clients in the North West and throughout the UK.
